For Medical Reasons

Big Ron's has to close.

To try to explain it all here is too lengthy.  So in a nutshell it is my hip causing the problems.  I am feeling better now but I will not be able to physically continue with the 80 to 90 hours a week.  I am also not in the position to hire a new person to cook for me.  So I decided to shut down.

Thank you so much to the people of Bright, Dearborn County and parts of Hamilton, Butler and Warren counties for making this year a success.  I wish I could have continued.

For those that have Gift Certificates:  All of the gift certificates that were purchased have been reimbursed.  For the two outstanding certificates that were donated they are no longer valid also since they were donated by Big Ron there will be no reimbursement.

For the ones that think "Medical Reasons" has something to do with the Health Department.  That is completely wrong.  Big Ron's passed every inspection, no minor violations were even noted by the inspector.  To see how my last inspection went to you can go to Dearborn County's website to see me on the list of "Star Establishments with not violations to-date".  You can see my last 2 surprise inspections on the list.  You can find them on January 10th and July 22nd.  Yes I was a carry-out, but I had to play by the same playbook as every other food establishment in the county.  That includes Argosy, Applewood and Whiskey's.

More Details and Résumé

Back in August I was experiencing a quite of bit of pain in my hip.  Once Kathy one of my employees obtained full time employment, I decided to shut down temporarily so try to mend and figure out what to do.  Realizing I could no longer work the 80 - 90 hours a week any longer and not having enough capital built up to be able to hire somebody else to help me cook.  I decided to shut down before it began to spiral out of control also while I can still make loan payments, and pay the last couple of months of my lease,  until I find employment.

I have taken 1-1/2 months off and now ready to return to a 40 hour work week.  I am looking to get back in the apartment industry.  My 25 years of experience and my strong knowledge of apartments I should not have a problem getting something.  I will be looking on the Western side of Cincinnati and in N. KY

If you know of anyone looking I would be glad to apply.  I can pass drug test, and police background check with no problems.  I am skilled in HVAC, appliance repair, plumbing, electrical and all aspects of apartment maintenance.  I even have the ability to work in an office as a leasing agent.  (I had some sales experience in the past 25 years)  I worked in sales for 2 of the main suppliers who provide maintenance supplies to apartments in the country.  So I can also sale!

Home of Bright’s award winning barbecue. We smoke our pork butts (shoulder pulled pork), ribs, chicken and brisket the right way. It is never pre-cooked or boiled. It is seasoned with Big Ron’s special blend of spices and put into the smoker every day. We use only hickory wood for that recognizable southern flavor.

Big Ron’s is carryout only, but don’t let that fool you. You will be taking home some of the finest quality barbecue, side dishes and homemade desserts you have ever tasted. You can also enjoy your meal at a picnic table outside or sheltered picnic tables 3/10ths of a mile away at the park. Ask for directions.

From Mr. Don Roe West Chester, OH

"Ron's BBQ has me spoiled.  It is significantly better than the restaurant BBQ choices in Cincinnati.  Better than Dickey's.  Better than City Q BBQ.  Better than Smokey Bones.  The only problem is that it is so good I eat so much at one time that I am full the next day."
