About Big Ron

Big Ron Hobson is a 1982 graduate of Conner High School in Hebron, KY.  The son of a career United States Marine, Ron grew up in Alabama, North Carolina and Kentucky.  He always had a love for good barbecue and a passion for cooking for others for the fun of it.  In May of 2007, after years cooking and experimenting he decided to take a small step into the world of catering and selling at festivals.  Big Ron's in Bright Indiana is his first restaurant.

He won the pulled pork category at his first BBQ competition in July 2007.  That was the only main category he entered.  He wanted to see how he compares to others in this now competitive arena.  He went to the Rock n Blues n BBQ Fest at Caves Run in Morehead, KY.
